The Heart Behind the Art

Ada-Yah Art

“Created to Adorn Yah”

My mission is to encourage, lead, and empower women to seek God’s face through the arts and take possession of the territory the enemy has stolen from them.

“But you will cross the Jordan and settle in the land the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, and he will give you rest from all your enemies around you so that you will live in safety.”

Deuteronomy 12:10 NIV

Hey my name is Adaia. I am a Christian Artist out of Cumberland. I was born and raised in a Christian home, but I still dealt with a lot of fear and insecurity. My life was far from perfect. My self-image was distorted from a very young age.

God has used art as an avenue for his Spirit to minister to those areas of my life. He began to show me that a lot of my pain stemmed from rejection I had endured in my life.

I always felt as if I wasn’t good enough so I never dared to step out into anything new. As he began to dig those things up I began to step into new things.

Since painting began as a hobby for me, I never planned on sharing my art with the world. It took a lot of convincing from my family before I had courage enough to share what I painted.

After I began sharing my work the Lord built my confidence to the point of selling it. The more I painted the more I developed a style, confidence, and skill.

As I obeyed God with each step he opened doors for me to utilize the gift he had given me. I had to push past fear and insecurity with each step and each door.

I have been painting Worship art or prophetic art for 3 years now. By the grace of God I can serve at my local church using this gift during live worship, but that came at a cost of laying my fears down at the feet of Jesus. A cost that was totally worth it.

Through every stage of life and our Christian walk we will face fear. Fear is a natural response to things we can’t control, but when we allow fear to rule over our lives it kills every dream and all vision God wants to place in our hearts.

Someone once said to me, during a class I was teaching, “Adaia, I never knew you painted!” And I replied with, “I didn’t know I did either!”

I never really believed I could, so I didn’t… until I did. All glory be to God.

Aspiring artist tip: Do it scared.
